To upload a video to YouTube, mark it as unlisted, and copy its URL:

  • Open your web browser and go to the YouTube website. Sign in to your YouTube account if you're not already logged in.
  • Click the "Create" or "Upload" button at the top-right corner of the YouTube homepage.
  • Click "Select files" and choose the video file you want to upload from your computer.
  • Video Upload Settings:
    • While the video is uploading, you can fill in the video details like title, description, and tags.
    • Below the video details, you'll find the "Visibility" dropdown menu. Select "Unlisted" from the options. This makes your video unlisted, meaning it won't appear in public search results but anyone with the video link can view it.
  • Once you've filled in the details and set the visibility to unlisted, click the "Done" or "Publish" button (the wording may vary depending on your YouTube version).
  • After your video is uploaded and processed, go to your video's page on YouTube. You can do this by clicking on the video title. In your browser's address bar, you'll see the URL of your video. Simply click in the address bar to select the URL, right-click, and choose "Copy" from the context menu to copy the URL.

To link your YouTube video to a GMAU assignment or test:

  • Log into your GMAU student dashboard.
  • On the main menu on the left side of the browser window, click either "Assignments" or "Testing", depending on which you're doing.
  • On the Assignments or Testing page, select the assignment or test you're submitting your video for.
  • In the "Response" area of the next page, type any comments you want to send to the grading instructor and click the "Add Response" button (adding comments is optional).
  • Paste the URL of your YouTube video into the "Add Videos" area, then select the "Add Video" button.
  • Lastly, select the "Submit" button.

That's it! You've uploaded a video to YouTube, marked it as unlisted, copied its URL, pasted it into your GMAU assignment or test, and submitted it.

Please note: Only 'unlisted' YouTube videos are accepted for GMAU assignment and test submissions. YouTube Shorts, TikTok , and Loom videos are not compatible with the student site.
